California, June 2014
Roxanne and I made a brief trip out to Ridgecrest, California in late
June 2014. Here's some photos I took, mostly of lizards and snakes.
A pair of White-tailed Antelope Squirrels (Ammospermophilus leucurus).
Mojave Green bait.
A female Chuckwalla (Sauromalus ater).
A Western Fence Lizard (Sceloporus occidentalis).
This animal was from Owens Valley. The rest were from the Ridgecrest area.
A Zebra-tailed Lizard (Callisaurus draconoides).
A Desert Horned Lizard (Phrynosoma platyrhinos), as found on a road
admiring its morning constitutional.
A Desert Horned Lizard, as found.
A Long-nosed Snake (Rhinocheilus lecontei).
A Glossy Snake (Arizona elegans).
A Western Shovel-nosed Snake (Chionactis occipitalis).
A Great Basin Gopher Snake (Pituophis catenifer deserticola).
A pretty cactus.
A Leopard Lizard (Gambelia wislizenii), giving me the stink eye.
A Side-blotched Lizard (Uta stansburiana).
A Zebra-tailed Lizard (Callisaurus draconoides).
A Yellow-backed Spiny Lizard (Sceloporus uniformis).
The same lizard, after I scared it off its perch.
A Great Basin Whiptail (Aspidoscelis tigris tigris).
My mom and dad, by the front door to their house.
It was nice to be back in the desert for a bit and see my folks.
Rox and I also attended my 30th high school reunion, which was a lot of fun.
