Blend

Blend refers to the mixing of the sound from all the instruments of the orchestra or ensemble over all points in the audience. In a concert hall with poor blend, a member of the audience in some specific location may hear one section or player louder than the other players.
The simplest technique for achieving proper blend is to mix the sound from the various instruments and voices on the stage before distributing the sound to the audience.
It is also necessary that there be no surfaces that focus or direct the sound from some part of the performing group to some small section of the audience. All the sound must be diffused over the entire audience by appropriately shaped reflectors. intimacy , which successive reflections following quickly thereafter. To achieve good texture, it is generally necessary to have at least five reflections within 60 ms after arrival of the direct sound. An important related requirement is that the overall sum of the reflected waves combined should on the average decrease uniformly in intensity. The structure of the hall should not create any single unusually large echo or have a tendency to focus sound; otherwise, poor texture may result.
