The databases of the future
Genomic data bases like Genbank are just the beginning.
In the near future we will see:
Gene expression data banks
SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) data banks
data banks of biochemical pathways
Setting up these data banks and making intelligent use of
them will require new mathematical tools, to be developed
by the next generation of mathematicians.
