• Note that 5, 6, 8 and 10 drop their final sound (cinq, six, huit, dix) depending on what follows them.  

Cinq is sometimes pronounced [sɛ̃] before a word starting with a consonant, but it is not always consistent; [sɛ̃k] in all other cases.
        cinq, cinq amis, cinq livres, cinq cents, cinq cents, cinq mille, cinq mille, cinq millions, cinq millions

Six is pronounced [si] before a word starting with a consonant; [siz] before a word starting with a vowel/h; [sis] in all other cases.
        six, six amis, six livres, six cents, six mille, six millions

Huit is pronounced [’ɥi] before a word starting with a consonant; [’ɥit] in all other cases.
       huit, huit amis, huit livres, huit cents, huit mille, huit millions

Neuf is pronounced [nœf]. When neuf precedes the words ans and heures,  it is pronounced [nœv]
        neuf, neuf ans, neuf heures

Dix is pronounced [di] before a word starting with a consonant; [diz] before a word starting with a vowel/h; [dis] in all other cases.
      dix, dix amis, dix livres, dix mille, dix millions
