Hallicrafters SX-101A

Hallicrafters SX-101A

The SX-101A is a Ham-band-only dual conversion receiver covering 80 to 10 meters. It includes a separate 30-34 MHz band scaled for use with external 6 or 2 meter converters. The receiver uses a 6BY6 as product detector for SSB. A 10 MHz position allows zero beating the crystal calibrator against WWV. A front panel control allows the dial pointer to be set to a calibrator point for accurate tuning. A full-page ad introducing the new model can be found on page 127 of the October 1959 issue of QST magazine. It sold new for $399.50. The companion Hallicrafters transmitter is model HT-32A. The receiver's predecessor, the SX-101, also covered 160 meters and 11 meters (combined with 10 meters) but did not have the 30-34 MHz converter band.
