Teaching:

While teaching various courses in the ME department, I was perturbed that students had to pay up to $180 per text book, so I decided to develop web based textbooks, freely available to the world, for example Engineering Thermodynmics, A Graphical Approach. I did not require an editor, since students obtained 5 bonus points for every mistake they found.
Another example, after completing my PhD thesis on
A Computer Simulation of Stirling Cycle Machines, I presented a paper on the subject in Seattle and met William Beale, the inventor of the free piston stirling engine, and he invited me for a 2 year sabbatical to his company Sunpower Inc. While there I joined Ohio University, and taught a course on Stirling engines. Since there was no text book available I developed the web based textbook on Stirling Cycle Machine Analysis.
