A 35-year-old receptionist presents to you with paresthesia of his lateral 3½  fingers. It has slowly gotten worse over the last 2 months. He spends hours each day typing on the computer. You notice wasting of the thenar eminence. What is causing these symptoms? What structures are involved?  What tests can help with your diagnosis?
