A football linebacker was injured when blocked illegally in the posterolateral aspect of his legs. When struck, his feet had been firmly planted. Moving his knee was very painful, but the trainer noted that there was excessive anterior movement of the tibia with respect to the femur. Explain these findings and postulate the extent of the injury.
