Plasmodiophorid Transitional Sporogenic Plasmodia
Transitional sporogenic plasmodia contain nuclei that undergo meiosis. Also, cleavage of the plasmodium into what eventually become resting spores is initiated in this stage of development. In older literature this stage often was referred to as the "akaryotic" stage.
